How to become an Architect in Tennessee

The licensing requirements for Tennessee allow for different degree paths, completion of 3 years of experience and completion of the Architect Registration Exams (ARE).

Candidates can also begin taking the ARE’s before they have completed the Internship Development Program, which helps to save some time.

How to become an Architect in Tennessee:

1. Complete a professional degree (B.Arch, M.Arch, D.Arch) from a National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) accredited University, or a four-year degree plus 5 years of professional experience.

2. Completion of 3 years of professional experience

3. Successful completion of Architect Registration Exam (ARE) as administered by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB)
